Good sexual health enables healthy relationships, planned pregnancies and prevention of disease. In Suffolk there is range of services available to support your sexual health needs. There are dedicated services for sexual health but help & support can also be accessed through traditional health service routes.
GP Practices
Most GPs provide contraceptive services including the contraceptive pill, long acting reversible contraception (LARC) such as the coil or implants. GPs can also provide emergency hormone contraception (EHC) for episodes of unprotected sexual activity. GPs also screen for chlamydia, a common sexually transmitted disease, for those aged under 25.
Pharmacies
Most pharmacies provide free EHC and also screen for chlamydia for those aged under 25.
Specialist Sexual Health Services
Specialist Sexual Health Services offer a free, confidential service providing contraception, sexual health advice, testing and treatment and HIV care and treatment. All treatment is free of charge.
