Management of Outbreaks of Acute Respiratory Illnesses in Care Homes Out of Season and In Season; In hours and out of hours (MOARCH Service).
This year we have commissioned Commisceo to provide a bespoke service for the management of outbreaks of acute respiratory illnesses that occur in Suffolk Care homes. The service includes swabbing symptomatic residents and if required providing antiviral drugs for the prophylaxis and treatment of influenza.
The Suffolk CCGs have designed an algorithm/flow chart, which details the full process that Care home staff should follow, when there is a suspected respiratory outbreak. In addition, it includes guidance on the roles that the local Health Protection Team (PHE) and Commisceo undertake. Care Home actions are coded in yellow.
