Two of Suffolk’s clinical commissioning groups (CCGs) have been awarded the highest possible accreditation by employer’s organisation Investors in People (IIP).
The Ipswich and East Suffolk and West Suffolk CCGs have become the first NHS organisations in central and eastern England to land the accolade, and only the third and fourth in the country.
The IIP Platinum accreditation is the highest honour that can be achieved against the Investor in People Standard.
It recognises an outstanding culture of staff engagement and leadership where staff are best equipped to commission the very best level of health services for local people.
Only two other NHS organisations in the country and 2% of all IIP-accredited organisations hold the much sought after Platinum status.
There are five levels of IIP recognition – accreditation, bronze, silver, gold and platinum. The CCGs were first awarded Gold accreditation in 2014.
Investors in People (IiP) is the standard based on the principle that a happy and healthy workforce is an effective workforce.
The Platinum accreditation is achieved through both CCGs reaching specified quality standards for developing employees, improving performance and realising objectives through effective management. The assessment process included interviewing staff from all departments on a range of topics including learning and development, training, leadership, involvement and recognition.
As well as recognising the efficient and effective leadership of both CCGs, which helps to retain staff, the award additionally delivers an external recognition of quality which attracts high quality employees.

Both our CCGs are committed to ensuring that every member of staff is supported and able to deliver our vision of a long and healthy life for everyone in the county.
“Reaching Platinum status is a big achievement and a step up from our previous Gold rating, showing that we continue to focus on improvements for every staff member.
“Our staff work hard and over the last 12 months have delivered some significant projects including, with our partners, implementing the transformation of mental health services, delivering more personalized maternity services and helping people who have experienced a stroke receive care closer to home.
“We are proud of our staff and the work they do.”
